INDEX

There are a number of pages and posts in the bcasselton.com website, some with rather cryptic titles. I thought having an index by title of some of the content contained through-out might be useful.

Post – Borrowing Voices, Looking Behind. This is a bit of an indulgent reviews of the route of a 22 day wilderness cane trip in Northern Ontario when I was sixteen. I used lots of lyrics and a few poems to capture my recall of the flavor of that trip. I hope it might be of some interest to you but you might grow bored as well.

Home Page – We are All Walking Each Other Home, For There Is No Place Like Home. There is a bit of flight of consciousness here. It is an attempt to invite readers into the pages.

Bread and Totem Pole – photos of bread and a totem pole.

Canoe Camp YA Fiction – The description and prologue of a young adult book about small groups in the wilderness. See the bottom of the page for information on a free on-line site to read the entire book. It is also available at Amazon.

Canoes – This a bunch of photos of canoes and boats I have had (mostly mine). Lots of pictures and a few captions.

Cocoa Fissure – A story from Widjiwagan staff days.

Crazy Rabbit – a story from Widjiwagan before my time. It is about a camp van being run off the road by a crazy rabbit. Obviously, the driver, who was the Director, thought we could be made to believe anything.

W. 3 and Curtain Falls 1939 – This story examines the mystery of the absence of the first W. 3 just two years after it was bought. I am rather proud of the lucky research.

Draft Assemblage – Lots of photos of assemblage art – mostly mine.

Draft Poems – Having a place to nestle my poems was the impetus for this website in the first place. So far, I’ve placed one here. Expect more.

DuNord Canoe Demo – This is another story of my early days as a staff person at Widjiwagan, although this story takes place at the Y family camp DuNord.

My First College Roommate Was Named Art – He was. In this page, I am mostly being a cheerleader for myself.

Some 1970 And Now – A few photos from then and now,

Do You Feel A Draft? – A short page about being drafted during the Vietnam War and serving as a conscientious objector.

Ringing The Old Bell – Another story about my early days as staff at Widjiwagan.

Stuff That Counts – I am quite proud about this commission, the research that my wife Melitta did to prepare me, and the assemblage result. The person commissioning the work liked it as well.

W. 3 – This is the version of the W. 3 story that I posted on Facebook in September 2022. It has since been shared and posted in a Y magazine (after some very nice editing by the Y staff). What happen to the old canoe? What would be the chances of finding it? Finding it, getting it home. Having it restored during the pandemic and returning it to the waters of Burntside Lake after 52 years gone. Having experiencing these events, I still like this story.

Wild Pickles – Another true story about my early days as staff at Widjiwagan.
